A Theatre For Sligo

A Theatre For SligoDuring the 1970’s Sligo Drama Circle recognised the need for a purpose built theatre in Sligo which would be used for rehearsing and performing plays and engaging in experimental theatre. This led to the setting up of what became known as the “Little Theatre” project or “A Theatre For Sligo” project.

The Drama Circle presented summer seasons of plays, the proceeds of which went towards this visionary project. This project eventually culminated in the opening of the Hawk’s Well Theatre in 1982. Articles relating to the development of this project in the 1970’s can be read HERE
