a_man_for_all_seasonsFootage has been unearthed of a rehearsal of our production of Robert Bolt’s “A Man For All Seasons”, an outdoor production from 1979 which took place in the Peace Park, or the Retreat House Gardens as it was known at the time. It ran from Sunday June 19th to Friday June 23rd, 1979. The cast included many well known Sligo Drama Circle members of the time: Columb Mc Bride, John Caheny, Cormac Sheridan, Paddy Dooney, Robert Burnside, Walter Mc Donagh and many others. The programme for the production, costing 10p, can be viewed HERE

There aren’t too many close-up shots but you may be able to identify some of the people involved. Interesting to note, with the consent of the bishop, the Sligo Cathedral bell was silenced for the duration of the performances so as not to spoil the production. Thanks to Columb Mc Bride for posting it online
